Tasting Notes

The style of wine that winemaker Mary-Lou Nash makes slants definitively towards the New World, showing ripe, concentrated fruit flavors, deep, dark color, riper tannins and a plush, plump, round mouthfeel to her wines. The 2007 Oro and blend of 56% Shiraz and 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, respectively offers up ripe black fruit whiffs punctuated with a bit of savory tar and a floral spice to its aromatics. The palate is fuller bodied with some plump notes of dark plum and black berry ending on a bed of finer grained, tannins. Very fruit forwarded this has enough structure for some short aging over the next couple of years. In the mean time drink up and enjoy for its generous, lip smacking, delicious dark fruit flavors.

A versatile player. It’s easy to mix and match this wine to your favorite dishes; Lasagna to Beef Wellington, it can handle it all!

Winemaker Notes

Phenolically ripe grapes are handpicked, cooled before a gentle crushing, open fermented in 600kg lots, hand punched down three times daily, and put into the barrel at 5 degrees Balling to finish fermentation in barrel. The wine is racked three times before bottling a year later and is further aged in bottle for at least a year before release. We feel we have a special site and our goal is to bottle what comes from the vineyard. We add only yeast and minimal sulfur to the wine. Our goal is a limited edition, terroir driven wine that is drinkable now as well as able to mature further in the bottle.
Rich ruby tones, hints of clove and spices; plum, dark berries and licorice flavours are enjoyed on the palate.
