Brilliant pale straw with a youthful hue. Intense, lifted aromas of ripe peach, nectarine and cantaloupe well-integrated with toasty French oak. A full-bodied style displaying elegant peach, nut and biscuity notes perfectly balanced with crisp acidity.

Food Accompaniments

Seared tuna nicoise, gnocchi with sage & burnt butter sauce, or pork and fennel sausages with paris mash.

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

90 pts Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar (JR)
Pale, green-hued yellow. Ripe melon, peach and poached pear aromas are complemented by notes of toasty lees, with a fine dusting of iodine and smoky minerals adding depth. The juicy melon and tropical fruit flavors offer very good depth, and the finish shows a gently sweet character that blends smoothly with the toast and smoke notes. This is impressively complex for the price.

90 pts Wine Ethusiast Magazine (JC) July 2010
Lush and mouthfilling, this tropical-fruited Chard offers a ton of toasted-almond notes accent star fruit and guava flavors.

88 pts Wine Spectator Magazine (HS)
Bright and jazzy, distinctive for its tobacco-scented pear and quince flavors, rich and finishing with snap.

88 pts Robert Parker, Jr's The Wine Advocate
The upper tier wines begin with the 2008 Frasca’s Lane Chardonnay which spent 10 months in new and seasoned French oak. Aromas of toast, baking spices, pear, and apple lead to a medium-bodied, ripe, nicely balanced Chardonnay.

Winemaker Notes

This Chardonnay was sourced from our Frasca’s Lane Vineyard in Victoria’s cool climate King Valley. After picking, the grapes were gently pressed and underwent a long, cool fermentation. 40% of the blend remained unoaked and was stored on gross yeast lees to add complexity. The remaining 60% was matured in new and seasoned French oak, being stirred monthly to add complexity, for 10 months before bottling.
