Antucura

Antucura Malbec 2015

91 pts James Suckling - Medium body, light velvety tannins and a funky finish. Drink now.

Tasting Notes

Intense and brilliant color, with violet reflections. The nose is perceived typicality of Malbec:: ripe red fruit and floral aromas. The palate entry denotes a full, soft and lush with sweet tannins and very present, has a final round with notes of cherries, sour cherries and blackberries.

Awards, Reviews and other Notes

91 pts James Suckling
An earthy and decadent red with spice, dried meat and berry character. Medium body, light velvety tannins and a funky finish. Drink now.

87 pts Tanzer/Vinous
(aged in neutral French oak; these vineyards are now 15 years old): Bright red. Fruit-driven if slightly reduced aromas of cherry, berries and menthol. Good mid-palate plummy fruit shows a glyceral sweetness from elevated alcohol but in fact has very little residual sugar. Finishes with a savory note and tongue-dusting tannins. -- Stephen Tanzer

Winemaker Notes

Harvest: Manual, in18 Kg plastic bins. Production: Double selection of clusters and grape: fermentation to 24-26 degrees centigrade in stainless steel tanks of 100-150 hl.; extended maceration during 30-45 days: natural malolactic fermentation. Aging: Three months in French oak barrels for second use. Then six months in bottle under light, humidity and temperature.
