Coastal Region
The Coastal region is the most prolific for well known and highly regarded wines. It contains the longestestablished growing areas, which are closest to Cape Town, and extends to the north along the Atlantic coast and to the east along the curve of False Bay. It is cooled by winds from both bodies of water, and is divided into eight districts. Cape Point, Darling, Paarl, Franschhoek-Franschhoek Valley, Stellenbosch, Swartland, Tulbagh and Tygerberg.
